Blackberry Jalapeno Jam

Posted on July 31, 2025
Here’s a deliciously sweet, spicy, and tangy recipe for Blackberry Jalapeño Jam  perfect for spreading on toast, pairing with cheese, or glazing meats.

🌶️ Blackberry Jalapeño Jam Recipe

🫙 Ingredients:

  • 4 cups fresh or frozen blackberries

  • 2–3 jalapeños, finely chopped (adjust heat to taste)

  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

  • 1 tablespoon apple cider vinegar

  • 3 cups granulated sugar

  • 1 (1.75 oz) package fruit pectin (like Sure-Jell)

🍯 Instructions:

  1. Prep the Ingredients:

    • Rinse blackberries and mash slightly in a bowl (leave some texture).

    • Remove jalapeño seeds for milder heat, or leave some in for spicier jam. Finely mince.

  2. Cook the Jam:

    • In a large saucepan, combine mashed blackberries, jalapeños, lemon juice, and vinegar.

    • Stir in pectin and bring the mixture to a rolling boil over medium-high heat, stirring constantly.

  3. Add Sugar:

    • Add all the sugar at once and stir to dissolve.

    • Return to a full rolling boil and cook for 1 minute, stirring constantly.

  4. Test for Doneness:

    • Drop a spoonful on a chilled plate. If it thickens and wrinkles when pushed, it’s ready.

    • If not, boil for another 30 seconds and test again.

  5. Jar the Jam (if preserving):

    • Pour hot jam into sterilized jars, leaving ¼-inch headspace.

    • Wipe rims, apply lids, and process in a boiling water bath for 10 minutes.

🔥 Serving Ideas:

  • Serve over cream cheese with crackers

  • Glaze for grilled pork or chicken

  • Spread on biscuits, cornbread, or grilled cheese sandwiches

🧊 Storage:

  • Refrigerate: up to 3 weeks

  • Freeze: up to 6 months

  • Canned (sealed): up to 1 year in a cool, dark place
