🧨 Bacon Cheeseburger Stuffed Tater Tot Cones with Colossal Cheese Volcano

🍽️ Servings: 4–6 cones

⏱️ Time: ~1 hour

🛒 Ingredients

For the Tater Tot Cones:

  • 1 (32 oz) bag of frozen tater tots, thawed

  • 1 large egg

  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

  • Cooking spray

  • Aluminum foil (for shaping cones)

For the Bacon Cheeseburger Filling:

  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20)

  • 1 small onion, diced

  • 1 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard

  • Salt and pepper, to taste

  • 1/2 cup chopped cooked bacon

  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese

For the Colossal Cheese Volcano:

  • 2 cups Velveeta or American cheese, cubed

  • 1/2 cup whole milk or heavy cream

  • 1 tbsp butter

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • Optional: diced jalapeños or hot sauce

🍳 Instructions

Step 1: Make the Tater Tot Cones

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).

  2. On a baking sheet, spread out the thawed tater tots and mash them with a potato masher or fork.

  3. Mix in the egg and 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese until combined.

  4. Create cone molds using rolled aluminum foil, shaping into large cones (like ice cream cones).

  5. Spray molds with nonstick spray. Press the tater tot mixture tightly around the molds, making sure there are no gaps.

  6. Place the cones upright (tip down) on a wire rack over a baking sheet (to allow oil to drip off).

  7. Bake for 25–30 minutes or until golden and crispy. Carefully remove foil molds after they cool for 5 minutes.

Step 2: Make the Bacon Cheeseburger Filling

  1. In a skillet over medium heat, cook ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.

  2. Add diced onions and cook until soft.

  3. Stir in ketchup, mustard, salt, and pepper.

  4. Mix in cooked chopped bacon and shredded cheddar cheese.

  5. Cook until cheese is melted and mixture is thick and cohesive.

Step 3: Make the Cheese Volcano

  1. In a saucepan over medium-low heat, melt butter.

  2. Add cubed cheese and milk. Stir constantly until fully melted and smooth.

  3. Add garlic powder and any optional ingredients (like jalapeños or hot sauce).

  4. Keep warm until ready to serve.

Step 4: Assemble & Erupt!

  1. Fill each tater tot cone with the hot bacon cheeseburger mixture.

  2. Place cones upright in cups or serving stands.

  3. Pour hot cheese volcano sauce on top of each cone and let it erupt down the sides.

  4. Garnish with bacon bits, chives, or jalapeños.

🔥 Pro Tips

  • For extra crispy cones, air fry them after baking for 3–5 minutes at 400°F.

  • Add pickles, tomatoes, or shredded lettuce inside the cones for extra burger flavor.

  • Serve with dipping sauces like ranch, BBQ, or spicy ketchup.
