Here’s a simple and easy naan bread recipe that you can make at home—no tandoor needed!
Easy Naan Bread (No Yeast Option Included)

Makes: 6–8 naans
Ingredients
With yeast:

2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour

1 tsp sugar

1 tsp instant dry yeast

½ tsp salt
-
2 tbsp plain yogurt
-
2 tbsp oil or melted butter

½ cup warm water (plus a bit more as needed)
OR No-yeast version:

2 cups flour
-
1½ tsp baking powder
-
½ tsp baking soda
-
½ tsp salt
-
2 tbsp yogurt
-
½ cup milk or water
Optional toppings:

Melted butter or garlic butter
-
Chopped cilantro
-
Nigella or sesame seeds
Instructions

Mix dry ingredients:
In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar (if using yeast), salt, and yeast (or baking powder/soda if using no-yeast version). -
Add wet ingredients:
Add yogurt, oil (or butter), and warm water/milk gradually. Mix to form a soft dough. -
Knead:
Knead for 5–8 minutes until smooth and elastic. If sticky, add a little more flour. -
Rest:

With yeast: Cover and let rise in a warm place for 1 hour or until doubled.

No yeast: Let dough rest for 20–30 minutes.

Divide & shape:
Divide dough into 6–8 balls. Roll each into a tear-drop or oval shape (~¼ inch thick). -
Cook:
Heat a skillet or non-stick pan over medium-high. Place naan in the dry hot pan. Cook until bubbles appear (~1–2 mins), flip, and cook the other side until golden brown. -
Brush & serve:
Brush hot naan with melted butter or garlic butter. Sprinkle with herbs or seeds if desired.
Tips:

For a fluffier naan, cover it with a lid while cooking.
