20-Minute Homemade Bread

Here’s a simple 20-Minute Homemade Bread recipe soft, quick, and perfect for when you’re short on time but craving fresh, warm bread. This is more like a quick flatbread or skillet bread, since traditional yeast breads need rising time.


🥖 20-Minute Homemade Skillet Bread (No Yeast)

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour (or half whole wheat)

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1/2 tsp salt

  • 3/4 cup warm water (plus 1–2 tbsp more if needed)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (plus extra for cooking)


Instructions:

  1. Mix the Dough
    In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add warm water and olive oil. Stir until a soft dough forms. If too dry, add a splash more water.

  2. Knead Briefly
    Turn dough onto a floured surface. Knead gently for 1–2 minutes until smooth. Don’t overwork it.

  3. Divide and Shape
    Divide dough into 4–6 pieces. Roll each into a ball, then flatten into a round disk about 1/4-inch thick.

  4. Cook in Skillet
    Heat a skillet (non-stick or cast iron) over medium heat. Brush lightly with oil. Cook each bread for 2–3 minutes per side until golden and puffed, with a few dark spots.

  5. Serve Warm
    Serve hot with butter, garlic spread, or alongside soup or curry.


Optional Add-ins:

  • Herbs (rosemary, thyme, parsley)

  • Grated cheese (for cheesy bread)

  • Minced garlic or onion powder

Fast No-Yeast Oven Bread (Soda Bread Style):

  • 2 cups flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp salt

  • 1 cup buttermilk (or milk + 1 tbsp lemon juice)

→ Mix, shape into a round loaf, bake at 400°F (200°C) for 18–22 mins.
